SELCCU Celebrates 50 Years of Growing Together

This year marks a milestone in the history of our service to you. We invite you to join us on Sunday, April 6 at the John A. Spitzer Conference Center on the campus of Lorain County Community College for the annual meeting. Doors open at 1 p.m. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m., followed by the annual meeting. In honor of our 50th anniversary, a reception and ice cream social will be held from 2:45-3:30 p.m., with entertainment for children and door prizes. Tickets for the luncheon and annual meeting are $10 per person and may be purchased from any teller. Members of all ages may attend the ice cream social only at no cost. Free tickets for the ice cream social are available from any teller as well. We look forward to celebrating with you!

Applications for Scholarships Due in March

Through the Young Adult Scholarship Program, SELCCU awards up to four non-renewable scholarships of $1,000 each. To qualify, applicants must be SELCCU members between the ages of 17-25 and attending college full time (12 credit hours) in fall 2008. Deadline for submission is March 7, 2008.

The Lake Erie Chapter of the Ohio Credit Union League is also offering two $500 scholarships. High school seniors who plan to pursue a post-secondary education of any kind, including professional, vocational or academic studies (not limited to colleges or universities) are eligible. Deadline for submission is March 3, 2008.

Applications for both scholarships may be downloaded off our Web site or picked up at SELCCU’s Member Services desk.

Financial Education for Special Students

For the second consecutive year, special classes of students from Avon Lake and Sheffield toured the credit union. As part of SELCCU’s financial literacy program, students toured the credit union, met the staff, learned how to endorse a check and participated in activities that emphasized the value of money. Credit Union Dedicates Flag

Members of VFW Post 3341 Honor Guard in Grafton, Ohio participated in a dedication ceremony on Dec. 12, 2007 at SELCCU. The credit union dedicated the flagpole to Karen L. Stevens, who was employed at SELCCU for 34 years, and who served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1963. Stevens is currently a member of the credit union’s audit committee.
